This years May Fair took place in the town centre, the high street being closed to traffic for the day.

Whilst we were not blessed with wonderful weather there were only a few showers and the public turned out in large numbers to enjoy the many stalls and sample the variety of food on offer. In addition to the stalls there were a variety of events during the day including, The EG Town Concert Band, The Rock Choir Big Sing, Kicks and Dance, Hipsinc, Vegas Nights, Amber Titchener, Urban Street Dance, The NTC Marching Band and many more. The Fair also provided the opportunity to choose the May Queen for the following year and after an interview the Mayor selected 13 year old Jyotsna and she was crowned. The Lions President, with the help of people in the audience, choose the winners for the 200 club Star Draw paying out £480 to three lucky winners. With the generousity of the public it looks like we raised over £7000 to help us support worthy causes in the district during the coming year.
